“Everything in life is writable about if you have the outgoing guts to do it, and the imagination to improvise. The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.”

Intro to Philosophy.
“If I have a book to serve me as my understanding, a pastor to serve as my conscience, a physician to determine my diet for me, and so on, I need not exert myself at all.” — Immanuel Kant
Writing is how I communicate to myself, and thus to others. When I capture a thought, secure it, label it, define it, interpret it, I can finally master it. As E.M. Forster said in a completely unrelated context, "How can I know what I think until I see what I say?"
